Republican attorneys general threaten lawsuit against health care reform
December 30, 2009 by LD Jackson · 5 Comments
In the every changing, mixed up world of health care reform and politics, I seriously doubt Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson saw this one coming. For weeks, he was courted by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, in an effort to gain his support for the health care reform legislation the Senate Democrats were trying to pass. [...]
Mike Huckabee, Maurice Clemmons, and Wayne DuMond

It was a terrible tragedy that happened Sunday, with four police officers being shot and killed by Maurice Clemmons in the Seattle, Washington suburb of Lakewood. We can all offer our condolences and prayers, but there is really nothing that can be said or done to take away the pain of something like this happening. [...]

Washington state’s assisted suicide law went into effect March 5, 2009 and it has taken only 84 days for the first doctor assisted suicide to take place. The Associated Press is reporting that Linda Fleming, a 66-year-old woman with terminal cancer died Thursday night after taking drugs to end her life that were prescribed by [...]
Payday loans–The worst kind of credit
April 2, 2009 by LD Jackson · 8 Comments
Okay, with a show of hands, I want to know how many of you have ever been guilty of needing cash in hand so badly that you have visited a payday loan establishment and took out a loan. Actually, I’m just kidding. No show of hands is necessary, but I do want to address what [...]
Is it time for The Fair Tax?
February 26, 2009 by LD Jackson · 14 Comments
Even as I begin this article, I hesitate to do so because I am no expert of taxation and the economy. One thing I do know is that the current tax system we have is bloated and very much unfair to the average American citizen. In almost every political campaign, there is at least one candidate who campaigns on lowering taxes or making them more fair to his or her constituents. While all of that sounds good, in reality it is mostly rhetoric.
Pelosi and Obama differ on priorities

Even though Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is no doubt ecstatic that Barack Obama is about to be sworn in as our nation’s 44th President, there are signs that the two may differ sharply in some of their priorities. One of the main differences between the two are the Bush tax cuts. The first [...]
Should Tom Coburn stop practicing medicine?
August 12, 2008 by LD Jackson · 4 Comments
If you have been following the United States Senate for the last two or three years, you will probably be familiar with Tom Coburn, our junior Senator from Oklahoma. Actually, that’s Tom Coburn, MD. You see, Senator Coburn is a medical doctor who has delivered over 3,000 babies during his medical career and it seems [...]

In a case that is garnering major attention from gun owners and from gun control advocates alike, the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments today in a case that challenges the Washington, DC. ban on handgun ownership. Dick Heller, an armed security guard, applied for a permit to carry his handgun home with [...]
What Mike Huckabee would bring to the table as Vice-President
March 16, 2008 by LD Jackson · Leave a Comment
Now that John McCain has seemingly wrapped up the Republican nomination, he is faced with the task of getting to the convention and picking his running mate. It’s no secret that I and a lot of Huckabee supporters would like to see him included on the ticket with McCain. In fact, there are a lot [...]
The Washington caucus results and our election process
February 10, 2008 by LD Jackson · Leave a Comment
Last night, we witnessed one of the strangest events I have ever seen in politics. The head of the GOP in Washington state has called the Republican caucuses for John McCain and said he was the winner with Mike Huckabee running a close second. The strange part about all of this is the fact that [...]
