New York congressional race heats up
November 2, 2009 by LD Jackson · 2 Comments
I have been out of the news loop for most of the weekend, due to having other obligations and it appears that I have missed a lot. Mike has already written about the struggle between the conservative and moderate factions of the Republican Party and how this struggle is playing out in the race for [...]
Making conservatism look bad
July 17, 2009 by LD Jackson · 11 Comments
I learned this lesson long ago. There is nothing most people hate worse than a hypocrite. For someone to espouse a particular belief, point of view, philosophy, etc. and then for it to be discovered that they were secretly going against that belief all along is the ultimate insult and a real slap in the face of the people who believed in what they were saying or doing. It certainly does the causes they have been fighting for no good and I would contend that conservatism is in that same boat.
Al Franken wins Minnesota Senate race

The Democrats in the United States Senate finally have their 60th vote, which provides a filibuster proof majority. We have two people to thank for this. Throughout the Republican primary season, Rush Limbaugh repeatedly berated, made fun of, and otherwise demeaned the candidacy of Mike Huckabee for President. I can’t tell you the number of times I wished Huckabee would be able to go onto the program and defend himself, but Rush would have none of it. To be fair to [...]
Biden’s words come back to haunt–Romney’s will do the same
August 24, 2008 by LD Jackson · 10 Comments
It never ceases to amaze me how politicians can say something at one point in their career or campaign and later act as if they didn’t mean or possibly didn’t say it. We have seen politicians reversing their positions and trying to cover their tracks like never before. Some may consider this article an attempt [...]
John McCain and his VP announcement
August 19, 2008 by LD Jackson · 8 Comments
According to Politico, John McCain is set to announce his Vice-Presidential running mate on August 29, just one day after Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech at the Democrati National Convention. It will be McCain’s 72nd birthday and I have no doubt the timing of the announcement is to help dampen the political bounce Obama [...]
