President Obama wants new taxes on banks

Let’s see now, what is that old saying? Something about honesty being good for the soul. If that’s the case, then my soul should be in pretty good shape after this post. That is unless the mixed feelings get in the way because my feelings about new taxes are very mixed.
First of all, I have [...]
Is the recession really over?
December 14, 2009 by LD Jackson · 6 Comments
It was a question that was asked at least twice on the Sunday talk shows this past weekend. Depending on who you were talking to, you could have received a couple of different answers. Larry Summers, who is the top economic adviser to the White House was asked that question on ABC’s This Week and [...]
Tax hikes considered to pay for health care
August 3, 2009 by LD Jackson · 2 Comments
Throughout the 2008 Presidential campaign, Barack Obama said over and over that he would not raise taxes one single dime. He based a lot of his campaign on that promise and so far, he has stuck to his guns. However, there are signs that higher taxes are being considered, in order to pay for the [...]
Democrats look to higher taxes to pay for health care
June 19, 2009 by LD Jackson · 3 Comments
It’s been fairly obvious from the start that one of President Obama’s main priorities would be health care. He has stated more than once that we need a national health care system and is pushing for a health care bill to be on his desk by the end of 2009. I have written earlier about the [...]
Obama’s budget–The plan that keeps on taking
March 3, 2009 by LD Jackson · 1 Comment
From the very start of his administration, President Obama has been telling us the economy is in very dire straits, so much so that it requires unprecedented action (translate that into spending) on the part of the federal government. He began that action by signing $787 billion spending bill into law that was disguised as [...]
Is it time for The Fair Tax?
February 26, 2009 by LD Jackson · 14 Comments
Even as I begin this article, I hesitate to do so because I am no expert of taxation and the economy. One thing I do know is that the current tax system we have is bloated and very much unfair to the average American citizen. In almost every political campaign, there is at least one candidate who campaigns on lowering taxes or making them more fair to his or her constituents. While all of that sounds good, in reality it is mostly rhetoric.
Let’s be fair to President Barack Obama
November 7, 2008 by LD Jackson · 2 Comments
Barack Obama has not even hired his entire staff, much less been sworn in and already, we are seeing negative articles about him and the people he is choosing to fill his staff positions. How I feel about Obama is not a big secret. I am no fan of the man and I really question [...]
The negative impact of Barack Obama
October 29, 2008 by LD Jackson · 2 Comments
As I do with some of my posts, let me preface this with an apology to a couple of people who I consider my friends. They would be Wickle, at A True Believer and Kerry, over at One Mom. I have really hesitated to even put these thoughts down on paper, because I do not [...]
Trouble brewing for November 4th
October 24, 2008 by LD Jackson · 1 Comment
Let’s take a moment and remember November of 2000 and recall the trouble between George W. Bush and Al Gore as they contested the Florida Presidential election results. There was no rioting that I can remember, but the contest was taken all the way to the Supreme Court and Bush came out as the winner. [...]
What Barack Obama’s tax plan will really do
October 14, 2008 by LD Jackson · Leave a Comment
One of the cornerstones of Barack Obama’s economic policy has been his purported tax cut for 95% of Americans and to be honest, John McCain has not done a good job of showing this policy and tax cut for what it really is. While I am certainly not an economic or tax policy expert, The [...]
