Sarah Palin and President Obama
February 10, 2010 by LD Jackson · 20 Comments
I guess you could say I am writing this post with my eyes wide open. I know full well that I am about to get myself into trouble with a lot of conservatives, especially those of you who are big fans of Sarah Palin. Having read Mike’s excellent and somewhat humorous article about Palin and [...]
Run, Sarah, Run –- Back to Wasilla
February 9, 2010 by Mike · 25 Comments
I wasn’t going to write this piece, I really wasn’t. I heard about Sarah’s “hand malfunction” gave it a good laugh (check that – a HUGE laugh) but decided I didn’t want to rip another Republican having just given Richard Shelby his due. But that changed when I read that Sarah had given Rush Limbaugh [...]
New York congressional race heats up
November 2, 2009 by LD Jackson · 2 Comments
I have been out of the news loop for most of the weekend, due to having other obligations and it appears that I have missed a lot. Mike has already written about the struggle between the conservative and moderate factions of the Republican Party and how this struggle is playing out in the race for [...]
Republicans vs. Conservatives in NY Congressional Race
October 27, 2009 by Mike · 16 Comments
The race for the NY congressional seat left vacant when President Obama named moderate Republican John McHugh secretary of the Army has become the epicenter in the fight over the soul of the GOP. The county GOP chairmen chose moderate Dede Scozzafava as their nominee and tea party conservatives, with the growing support of national [...]
Health insurer profits – really?
October 25, 2009 by LD Jackson · 24 Comments
As you are probably aware, there is a very heated debate going on in our country over the need for health care reform. It was one of the main agendas that Barack Obama ran on and with Democrats controlling Congress, it seems a given that some sort of health care reform legislation is sure to [...]
The uproar over health care reform
August 8, 2009 by LD Jackson · 10 Comments
I have debated with myself about writing this post for several days. I want to be clear right up front. I am not writing this in support of the health care reform legislation before Congress, but neither am I writing this in opposition to said legislation. Clearly, our health care system needs to have some [...]
HuckPAC comes in 3rd in fundraising
July 31, 2009 by LD Jackson · 23 Comments
According to a press release from Mike Huckabee, his political action committee HuckPAC has raised just over $300,000 during the first six months of 2009. The email I received from them did a fairly good job at putting a good light on these somewhat low numbers. Their financial goal for 2009 was to raise $750,000, [...]
Making conservatism look bad
July 17, 2009 by LD Jackson · 11 Comments
I learned this lesson long ago. There is nothing most people hate worse than a hypocrite. For someone to espouse a particular belief, point of view, philosophy, etc. and then for it to be discovered that they were secretly going against that belief all along is the ultimate insult and a real slap in the face of the people who believed in what they were saying or doing. It certainly does the causes they have been fighting for no good and I would contend that conservatism is in that same boat.
Sarah Palin resigns
July 5, 2009 by LD Jackson · 12 Comments
I was asked a question by my brother last night. He was wondering why I had not posted an article concerning the announcement by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin that she would be resigning her office at the end of the month. My response to him was that there was so much speculation about her motives [...]
Sarah Palin vs. David Letterman
June 12, 2009 by LD Jackson · 6 Comments
There has been quite an uproar over some of the comments Letterman made on his show recently about Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin and her family. While I do not necessarily agree Governor Palin would be the best choice for the Republicans to field as a presidential candidate in 2012, I happen to like the Governor [...]
