Scott Brown and the conservatives

Scott Brown and the conservatives

January 27, 2010 by LD Jackson · 15 Comments

Hasn’t this past week or so been a wild and woolly ride in the world of politics? I mean, we had all kinds of excitement, including a Republican win in the mostly liberal state of Massachusetts. Who would have thought Scott Brown could have ever pulled off his victory, but we have proof, as he [...]

For and against “Hillary: The Movie”

For and against “Hillary: The Movie”

September 22, 2009 by LD Jackson · 2 Comments

As most of you know by now, My Take has added a second contributor. It is a decision I didn’t dream of making when I started blogging. Even though Mike and I disagree on some of the issues, I have not regretted that decision. For his first article, Mike chose to write about the “Hillary: [...]

HuckPAC comes in 3rd in fundraising

HuckPAC comes in 3rd in fundraising

July 31, 2009 by LD Jackson · 23 Comments

According to a press release from Mike Huckabee, his political action committee HuckPAC has raised just over $300,000 during the first six months of 2009. The email I received from them did a fairly good job at putting a good light on these somewhat low numbers. Their financial goal for 2009 was to raise $750,000, [...]

Making conservatism look bad

July 17, 2009 by LD Jackson · 11 Comments

I learned this lesson long ago. There is nothing most people hate worse than a hypocrite. For someone to espouse a particular belief, point of view, philosophy, etc. and then for it to be discovered that they were secretly going against that belief all along is the ultimate insult and a real slap in the face of the people who believed in what they were saying or doing. It certainly does the causes they have been fighting for no good and I would contend that conservatism is in that same boat.

Mitt Romney’s speech at the Heritage Foundation

June 3, 2009 by LD Jackson · 1 Comment

This post may come as a surprise to a lot of my readers, given the fact that I am not a big fan of Mitt Romney. Over the past several days, I have been hearing a lot about the speech he made recently at the Heritage Foundation and have read excerpts of the speech that [...]

Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney – Looking forward to 2012

May 30, 2009 by LD Jackson · 6 Comments

Some may say this post is about two or three years early and they may very well be right, but this is something that has been on my mind for some time and I suppose now is as good a time as any to put pen to paper, so to speak. Yes, I understand it is only 2009 and Barack Obama has only been in office for about four months, but we will have a chance to vote him out of office in 2012 and the campaign will start earlier than that.

Chip Saltsman withdraws from RNC Chairmanship race

January 30, 2009 by LD Jackson · Leave a Comment

It is now official that Chip Saltsman has withdrawn his candidacy for the Chairmanship of the Republican National Committee and in my opinion it is a sad day for the Republican Party. This leaves current Chairman Mike Duncan in the lead to retain his position and if that lead holds out, our party is going [...]

From now on, it’s just Hannity and Limbaugh

January 12, 2009 by LD Jackson · 20 Comments

For twelve years, it has been a much watched program on FOX News, as conservative Sean Hannity and liberal Alan Colmes interviewed guests from across the country. They liked to call it the fair and balanced show of FOX News. Personally, I have watched very little of the program, since I don’t have a television, [...]

Compromise on Big Three bailout reached, but faces uphill Senate battle

November 20, 2008 by LD Jackson · Leave a Comment

Even though the general consensus of the public and the Senate seems to be against a bailout of the Big Three auto companies, certain members of the Senate seem determined to pass a compromise. Carl Levin, D-Mich and Kit Bond, R-MO called a news conference today to announce the plans. From FOX News:
Warning of economic [...]

Mike Huckabee–Doing The Right Thing

November 19, 2008 by LD Jackson · 9 Comments

I have refrained from writing an article about Mike Huckabee and the release of his new book, “Do The Right Thing”, simply because I have yet to read the book. From the excerpts I have read, it appears Huckabee was honest in telling us about his campaign and how it all went down, from taking [...]
