Larry, I completely agree with your sentiment. I have been a HUGE admirer of the space program since I was a young boy and I will very much miss the shuttle flights. I never got a chance to see a liftoff but I am going to make every effort to get down for one of the final ones this year. I still check the Nasa website regularly for overhead sightings of the International Space Station and on nights when the sky is especially clear it is a fantastic sight to watch it fly overhead. When the shuttle is approaching or departing the space station you can see the two of them flying the same path across the sky, sometimes seemingly yards apart from each other (though of course it's probably many miles). It's a wonderful sight. If you're interested go to:

http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/

Hit "enter" for the United States and then choose your state and the closest city. In fact, the space station will be visible at night through the weekend so we all may get a wonderful view of the shuttle appraoching the station. Enjoy it -- there won't be many more such opportunities.
