I really thought I would let this day go by without posting anything about what happened on that terrible day, nine years ago. I have read several blog posts today, most of them commemorating those who were killed. While reading these posts, I was reminded of an image that I have had saved for a long time. It never fails to stir me when I look at it. I may have shared it with my readers before, so forgive me if you have seen it. This is a smaller version of the original cartoon, which I have been unable to find archived online. Take a few moments to look at the image of Dennis The Menace, a little boy well known for his shenanigans, sobered up and a single tear running down his face. It truly is a time to remember.

That is good, Larry. I hadn’t seen it before.
Thanks, Matt. I enjoy Dennis The Menace cartoons to start with, and this one really gets to me. I used to have a bigger version on my hard drive, but lost it due to a computer crash. I had this one uploaded to the blog and thought I would share it. Didn’t feel much like writing, but there really isn’t much need with an image like this.
Very touching, Larry. I hadn’t seen it either. Thank you for posting this and sharing it with us. Made my eyes sting. They’ve been stinging all weekend.
I had not seen that before, thanks Larry.
LD, I came by to add you to my 9/11 blog on 9/11 and didn’t see one. I have add it, because I think we should read about 9/11/01 every day, and if not every day, at least once a week.
I’ve always loved Dennis the Menace this sweet graphic certainly makes a point.
Thanks, Maggie. I almost didn’t put anything up about this, simply because I felt “wrote out” about the subject. I came across the Dennis cartoon in my image files and couldn’t resist.
Like Pearl Harbor, we can never forget.
