Sensationalism or Racism in Media’s Distortions of the Zimmerman-Martin Shooting?

Zimmerman-MartinIs it sensationalism or racism driving the false reporting from news organizations over the Zimmerman-Martin shooting?

NBC falsely edited the 911 call to make Zimmerman appear guilty. Two NBC News employees have been fired. Then ABC News claimed that there were no injuries on the back of Zimmerman’s head which ran contrary to his statement that he was physically assaulted by Martin during their altercation which resulted in Martin’s death.

Footage clearly reveals injuries to Zimmerman’s head right where he said they were.

Photos of Martin were used from when he was slightly younger (and childish looking) while an older booking photo of Zimmerman was used. Martin’s menacing snarl photo from Twitter was ignored by the media because he looked “gangster.”

Then there is the infamous CNN “enhanced audio” which supposedly reveals Zimmerman said “nigger” when referring to Trayvon Martin, who was black.

Now CNN says they listened to the audio in “a different room” and have come to the conclusion that there was no racial slur used.

Finally, there was the New York Times which called Zimmerman a “white Hispanic.” According to Rush Limbaugh, only five examples of this term can be found in the New York Times’ archives which go back to the 19th Century.

President Obama’s mother was white but, surprisingly, the New York Times never referred to him as a “white black” or “half-white black.”

Before (and since) the Zimmerman-Martin shooting there have been numerous examples of blacks deliberately targeting whites and either savagely beating them up or murdering them. And since the shooting there have been several examples where blacks have said they did it because of Trayvon’s death.

And yet, these shootings go largely unreported in the media.

Part of this is sensationalism and the selling of papers or the boosting of ratings. There is little doubt that over the past two decades “news” has become more sensational, celebrity-driven, and more openly agenda driven.

Ironically, as news organizations have become less reliable in their reporting, blogs have become more accountable to the truth, offering a contrast to what used to be the “big boys” of media.

But in our analysis we cannot ignore the racial aspect of story coverage. On Capitol Commentary we have shown multiple examples, from numerous journalists, of how important it was for a non-white to win the presidency. Any objectivity held by most of the media was put aside so as to help Obama beat a white man (John McCain) and a white woman (Hillary Clinton).

From the Washington Post’s Deborah Howell:

The Post provided a lot of good campaign coverage, but readers have been consistently critical of the lack of probing issues coverage and what they saw as a tilt toward Democrat Barack Obama. My surveys, which ended on Election Day, show that they are right on both counts.

Why would journalists tilt so heavily towards picking a subjects’ race over facts? Mostly because ideology trumps reality. Liberals largely believe that whites have oppressed the opportunities of minorities with the Original Sin being Colonial slavery. They view American society as a big chest of drawers with whites at the top and blacks in the bottom drawers. Latinos are somewhere above blacks and Asians are somewhere below whites.

Liberals want to re-shuffle the drawers and they (misguidedly) think that if they downplay black-on-white violence and play up white-on-black violence that this will somehow tear the top down and build the bottom up.

This mentality continues into all things. Thus the “rich” are demonized while the “poor” are lionized.

These story lines are fed to the public. When there is a backlash like a baby unwilling to consume another spoon of food or the facts show differently, suddenly the “truth” emerges (as with the Zimmerman-Martin shooting).

Because the media never really presents the facts (such as Gallup finding more Americans are anti-abortion than pro-abortion) when you confront a Liberal with things they literally cannot believe it because everything in their entire world has told them differently.

This is how mind control programming works.

Thus, in the end, it was a type of reverse racism which appears to have driven what used to be respectable news gathering organizations to attempt to conceal – to be very kind – the realities behind the Zimmerman-Martin altercation.

Ultimately, these organizations have blood on their hands not only for stoking the fires of civil unrest, keeping race hustlers like Al Sharpton employed, but also of providing excuses for thugs to beat and murder people “for Trayvon.”

  • It’s sensationalism. The news is not about educating us, it’s about selling us products and making money. I very rarely watch tv news. Reading on-live various sources will almost always give you a more accurate picture.

  • It’s all about getting Obama reelected, in my opinion. Prove your not a racist and vote for Obama again. Disgusting!

All it takes is for some “misinformation” to get out and racebaiters like Sharpton/Jackson will run with it, as will the media. They are only too happy to report on an incident that has the racist feel to it. They are ready to start riots in the name of “justice”. However, it is always one sided and I will leave that up to you to decide which side they are on. To attack and saying it is justified because of what happened to Martin, is just plain wrong. We still do not know what happened. Until we get a verdict, isn’t a person innocent UNTIL proven guilty? We can debate all we want, but it will be the evidence that will prove what happened. AND, as usual, while this is keeping us interested, what will Obama be signing by EO? Ummm?

  • The media follows the agenda of various left-wing organizations including the NAACP and Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition. When the left latched onto this case, they knew they could score political points via the left-wing media. The problem is that the facts of this case simply aren’t what the left originally believed them to be. This has created an even worse situation than what the left originally intended. Now we have blacks who refuse to acknowledge the actual facts of the case pitted against whites who can’t figure out why blacks won’t listen to facts. It’s all very unfortunate.

    • Steven, I disagree with you when you write:

“The problem is that the facts of this case simply aren’t what the left originally believed them to be.”

I disagree because the entire audio “enhancement” by CNN which gave them license to smear Zimmerman by saying he used the word “nigger” was completely absurd. The only reason CNN recanted was because people weren’t believing them. But the audio sounded just as absurd the first time it was played as the 1,000th time.

Also the photos of Zimmerman’s wounded head, once it actually showed the back, were obvious in that there was a wound there.

In order for the Left to “ignore” these things they had to turn a blind eye and, for lack of a better term, lie.

The only reason there was a storyline change is because the collective weight of the lies were so great that the dam burst.

But I believe it was always the intention to prevent the truth from coming out.

  • There is some sensationalism at play here as the media outlets all try to outdo each other and get a story the others don’t have. But now they have resorted to out and out lies and tampering with audio and video to prove the narrative as they wish it were.
But in this case the sensationalism included racism because the media so longed for this to be a race based hate crime and they were willing to do whatever they had to in order to “prove” this.I couldn’t agree with you more when you wrote that the media has blood on its hands now because they are responsible for pushinf a false racial narrative when none existed.

Steve, this has become dangerous and the media is guilty as hell. They want to be the judge and jury for the Zimmerman/Martin issue and feel that what they are doing is fair play. They are being caught in a lie and it has gone way past what “normal” people will tolerate from the media. They are finally being called on it and they are having a hard time spinning the story in a way that we will accept. I think they are becoming dinosaurs, FAST!

  • This was easily the worst rush to judgement I have seen from the media in recent times. The only incident that comes close is how the liberal media tried to pin the blame for the Arizona shooting on Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.
