I just read an interesting article at RedState via The Lonely Conservative, positing that Obama has never wanted the mandate, which is seen to save insurance companies from complete death. And positing that Obama thinks the courts will strike down the mandate, leaving us to single payer – his real goal.

If striking the mandate leaves the plan unsustainable, I’m wondering how we get to single payer? Obama deems it? What a mess (and side note: I have not idea if this is worthy of consideration). Personally, I am sharing your optimism Michael.

Remember his promise to close Gitmo in 1 year? How’s that going? Of course I don’t think Gitmo should be closed right now but it’s such an obvious broken promise and he is never asked about it.

You are right, but I would say that that moment has long passed and is now too late. Two years of proof by comparing actions to words is for me enough. One of the weaknesses of democracy is that people [the electorate] have very short memories and thus make the same mistake not twice but many, many times.

Obama never stopped campaigning after the election. The man is an egomaniac. That’s why he’s constantly on TV. Obama’s worse than a slick used car salesman.

Barack Obama is in constant campaign mode and is the master of saying one thing while doing another–signing 8,000 earmarks into law while promising earmark reform, and telling Republicans the time for constant campaigning was over the day before he left on a campaign stop for another Democrat, just to name two examples–and he may have been able to get away with this before the internet, but now there are too many people paying attmention. With the internet replacing the MSM and keeping the MSM honest. politicians have to remember that everything they say can come back to haunt them at some point.
