I wouldn't classify this action as an assault on religion or religious freedom and liberty. The mandate does not prevent anyone from practicing their religion in any particular way of their choosing. It only forces people to pay for the services for others that they may not agree with according to their religious doctrine, which we all already do anyway whenever we pay taxes because money is fungible.

It's purely a numbers game which is the inevitable outcome and unintended consequence whenever you turn your welfare over to the state to control. The number crunchers start making decisions for you on where to spend your money for the good of society. As you pointed out, many proponents of this "free" contraception are spitting out ideological rhetoric claiming this is an issue of women's rights and access to healthcare to milk it for political gain, but it was probably a proposed solution through cost-benefit analysis (for the Gary Johnson fans) by those running the programs to be a means to lower overall costs on other social welfare programs by reducing the number of unwanted children to women without the means to raise them who would end up on the public dole.

This was political nonsense, unless Obama thought that people would not notice, or roll over for him. As for the "compromise" itself, it seems to make little change at all. If the insurance pays for it, they will pass the costs onto people or organizations that purchase policies. So, if a religions organization buys an insurance policy, they are still paying for the items that they do not want.

I also think that the MSM, as well as the administration, is framing this as being about contraception only. That is the tip of the iceberg, as the "compromise" states that insurance companies will provide drugs are services that provide abortion.

The Catholics that voted for Obama should be hanging their heads in shame. Obama was known. People were talking about him before he was elected, but far too many religious people drank the Kool Aid.

Obama's track record on abortion and government funding is crystal clear so there really is no confusion. I wonder what Bart Stupak has to say today since it was his pivotal vote switch that triggered the passage of Obamacare?

This link breaks it down well - http://www.mcclpac.org/about_obama.htm

Good to see you back at it Larry.
