Violence in Mumbai, India
In another wave of violence by Muslim extremists, 104 people have been killed and 314 wounded in attacks in Mumbai, India. Beginning Wednesday night, near 10:00 pm, attackers stormed into several buildings across Mumbai, apparently in a coordinated attack, but shooting indiscriminately. The targeted buildings included the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel From The Associated Press
MUMBAI, India (AP) – A trickle of bodies and hostages emerged from a luxury hotel Thursday as Indian commandoes tried to free people trapped by suspected Muslim militants who attacked at least 10 targets in India’s financial capital of Mumbai, killing 104 people.
More than 300 were also wounded in the highly coordinated attacks Wednesday night by bands of gunmen who invaded two five star hotels, a popular restaurant, a crowded train station, a Jewish center and at least five other sites, armed with assault rifles, hand grenades and explosives.
A previously unknown Islamic militant group claimed responsibility for the carnage, the latest in a series of nationwide terror attacks over the past three years that have dented India’s image as an industrious nation galloping toward prosperity
Kevin.Tracy has a very informative article about the attacks and has a bit more insight and understanding about these things. Myself, I won’t pretend to understand attacks such as these. There isn’t an argument you can give, that will convince me these kinds of attacks will do any cause a favor. No matter how desperate you may be, why would you want to go around killing people who have nothing to do with you in the first place.
From my point of view, if you lived in India, you should be glad your country is moving toward prosperity. The places that were attacked were all places of luxury, places where the elite and the tourists gathered. These are the places where the tourists come to spend money in India, so why would you want to stop that? What harm is it doing to India? When are these people going to understand that shooting people at random and blowing up buildings isn’t going to further their cause?
It’s sad because people who had nothing to do with these extremists have died, at least two of them children from the same family, and for what reason? All because the country isn’t Muslim enough? It doesn’t make sense to me.
That’s my take!

Thanks for the plug, Larry. I’m in the process of writing a paper that explains what exactly is going on in the mind of a terrorist and it makes a lot more sense than you may think. Many of our founding fathers were actually engaging in terrorism.
