The spin of the media

I just finished watching a clip of Sean Hannity and Brit Hume talking about Mike Huckabee and his dropping out of the race and it brings to the forefront of my mind, just how much damage Fox News and some of the other media did to our candidate.  Even with Huckabee out of the race, Sean Hannity can not bring himself to compliment the man, outside of saying he is a talented politician.  Even now, he is whinning about Huckabee staying in through Super Tuesday and splitting the conservative vote with Mitt Romney.  Even now, he is complaining about the fiscal issues he is in disagreement with Huckabee about and still tries to claim Huckabee is not a true conservative.  Forget about the moral issues.  Forget about the way Huckabee actually governed the state of Arkansas, bringing it out of one of the worst periods of neglect in it’s history.  Hannity and Fox News would have us just throw that all away?  I don’t think so.

The fact that Hannity and company believe the reason Huckabee came as far as he did is only because of his talents as a politician shows how ignorant they are of the man.  I do not deny Huckabee is a talented politician, that goes without saying.  However, those talents are secondary to his concern for our country and the direction in which it is headed.  They are secondary to the moral issues he cares so deeply about.  Things like the pro-life and pro-traditional marriage movements.  He has chosen to use the talents he has to champion those causes and not further himself as a politician.  This care and concern is one of the main reasons he was able to come so far during this campaign.  Not to mention the simple fact that Mike Huckabee has proven he can be trusted to do what is right, even when it may not be politically expedient.  That’s a quality that is hard to find in a politician.  If you don’t believe me, just take a look at John McCain and you will see what I mean.

That’s my take!
