The contrast between Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee

As the Iowa caucuses grow near, Mike Huckabee continues on his way to winning the caucuses and moving closer to the White House.  His campaign has been built on honesty and integrity and so far, he has refrained from going negative, for the most part.  He has been able to refute the false and misleading information the other campaigns have been turning out, without going with a completely negative tone.  Fred Thompson was really the one who started the negative ads, but Mitt Romney is clearly getting desperate and as voting time draws closer, he is rolling out more negative ads.  Let me give you a hint as to what he is trying to do.

Mitt Romney does not want you looking at Mike Huckabee for what he really is.  He would rather you take his word for it and he is trying for all he is worth to define Huckabee in his own terms.  That those terms are mostly devoid of truth seems to matter little to Romney.  He is interested in only one thing and that is keeping your eyes off the real Mike Huckabee.  If he can do that, then he will have won the election.  I would like to invite you to read a great blog post over at Massachusetts for Huckabee that tells the real truth about the so-called “facts” Romney includes in his negative ads.

The real irony of all this is that Romney would like you to believe he is a true conservative and has been so for ever.  The real facts tell a different story.  The man is a true phony and is clearly a man who will say and do anything to anything to win the election.  If you do your research, and I implore you to do just that, you will find time after time when the man has changed his position on one issue or another.  I understand a person can change their mind, but the way Mitt Romney does it leads me to believe he has no core beliefs, other than those that will get him elected.

As for Mike Huckabee, I will say that I do not agree with Mike Huckabee on every issue. One example is his stance on illegal immigrants.  I do wish he was a little less soft on that issue, but I do understand his reasoning.  However, Mike Huckabee has impressed me as being someone who can be trusted to do what he said he would do.  The positions he has taken on issues invite you to look at them.  They are the same positions he has always had and if he is elected President, they are the same positions he will hold then.

As I said above, Romney wants to define Huckabee for the voters.  I challenge you to do your own research on both candidates and to define them according to their actions and values.  Compare them to your own and see for yourself which candidate would truly be a catalyst for change in Washington, DC.  Mike Huckabee has said time after time, he believes the people of America (that’s you and I) are wanting a chance to vote for instead of against someone.  In this election, we have that chance.

That’s my take!
