Not all pro-lifers are guilty of George Tiller’s murder

I have refrained so far from writing about the murder of George Tiller on Sunday, believing there is already enough uproar about this act of violence. My first thought when I heard about the murder was that no human being deserves to be shot down like that. My second thought was about how much damage this is going to do to the pro-life movement. I can’t think of anything that will have such a negative impact on the drive to protect innocent children from being murdered.

The knee jerk reaction to the murder by abortion rights groups seems to be a tendency to blame all pro-life groups for what has happened. Despite what these groups may say and how the media may portray what has happened, not all of us are guilty of the murder of George Tiller. One Mom has an excellent article she calls Profiling that probes into this subject. In this article she references an interview of another provider of late-term abortions by the name of Warren Hern. Take the time to read her article and the interview and I believe you will be shocked at how quick he is to put all who are pro-life into the same group as the man who killed George Tiller.

Some of the reaction to this murder reminds me of how gun control activists react when someone takes a gun and commits a mass murder or some other seemingly random act of violence, all in the name of supporting the 2nd Amendment. They tend to group all of us who are strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment into the same group as the person who commits the violence and nothing could be further from the truth.

Being pro-life, we strongly disagree with the murders George Tiller performed, all in the name of women’s health and abortion rights, but understand this. We strongly condemn what Scott Roeder did in shooting down George Tiller. In no way was it the right thing to do, no more than is the act of murder the world calls abortion. It is truly a sad time for the family of George Tiller and for the pro-life movement.

    Very well said.

I think that it is important that we as pro-lifers get the word out that we don’t back this kind of thing. Certainly, the NARAL types are going to try to paint us all with that brush. We know better, and we just have to make sure that we tell the truth.

I put up a post documenting a few pro-lifers support of the murder of Doctor Tiller. I could have put up quotes for hours, the abundance of riches was truly sickening. Those of us who trust women with the ability to control their own bodies are saddened with the murder of Doctor Tiller, and annoyed by those who have cheered it on.

      Oilfieldguy,
Make no mistake, I do not condone what George Tiller has done, but I also do not condone someone shooting him down in cold blood. That kind of act does no good for either side of this issue.

  3. This is a great article that expresses my feelings exactly. Liberals are so quick to paint all Conservatives with a single, broad brush but my they hate it when someone does the same thing to them.
