John McCain and Barack Obama–A horse race to the end
For several weeks, the Obama campaign has been acting as if they have the race for the White House all wrapped up in a pretty little package and really, you can’t blame them. After all, the media has been portraying the race as all but over, with an Obama landslide victory predicted. Since the final Presidential debate, however, the race has tightened and it looks like John McCain and Sarah Palin are still in the running. According to the latest AP poll, it is a very tight race indeed.
The poll, which found Obama at 44 percent and McCain at 43 percent, supports what some Republicans and Democrats privately have said in recent days: that the race narrowed after the third debate as GOP-leaning voters drifted home to their party and McCain’s “Joe the plumber” analogy struck a chord.
From the quote, you can see that some of McCain’s bounce in the polls is being contributed to Joe the plumber and his questioning of Barack Obama about his tax plan and rightfully so. Despite the clear media bias in regards to Obama, I believe the American people are finally beginning to see the Senator from Illinois for what he really is, an under-qualified candidate for the highest office in our country.
Throughout the past several weeks, as our economy has struggled to find it’s footing and our leaders have struggled to find a way to deal with the problems on Wall Street, Obama has tried to wash his own hands and keep them free from the dirt that was flowing in the waters of Washington. You have to give the man credit, he has consistently stayed on his message, which is to blame President Bush, John McCain, and all things Republican for the economic troubles our country is facing. Despite that message, it is becoming increasingly clear that Obama is not blameless in this crisis. He has close ties to ACORN, the group that intimidated banks into making bad loan decisions to people who had no hope of repaying the money. That started this snowball rolling downhill in the first place.
Barack Obama seems to have a knack for staying above normal campaign troubles and to keep himself spotless in the process. He showed this propensity when he neatly tossed Reverend Jeremiah Wright under the bus, even though he had been his spiritual mentor for some twenty years. He seems to rise above it all, but in the process, he steps on anyone who gets in his way. Again, I believe the American people are beginning to see Obama for what he really is and they do not necessarily like what they see.
I can not begin to predict who will actually win this election, but no matter what the media would like us to believe, this campaign is not over, at least not for a couple of weeks. We still have the privilege and responsibility of casting one of the most important votes we will cast in our lifetime. Like it or not, ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a horse race.
That’s my take!
Larry

Yes, Larry, it seems to be a horse race to the very end. America wants to win, but it seems like the MSM is picking our president for us. The race is definitely not over; there is still a chance correct ticket will be picked for the job. That is, of course, McCain/Palin.
Many will vote for the Illinois senator based simply on his race, while others will vote for him simply because they despise President Bush. How sad.
