Huckabee on immigration is not what Ann Coulter says

I am seeing a lot of comments on different news articles about Mike Huckabee’s position on illegal immigration.  Ann Coulter makes some very disparaging remarks about him in her latest article on World Net Daily and One Mom does a very good job at taking the article apart, showing it for what it is.  My two cents may not be needed, but I would like to point out something that I thought was blatantly incorrect.

In her article, Ann Coulter says:

Toward that end, when an Arkansas legislator introduced a bill that would prevent illegal aliens from voting and receiving state benefits, Huckabee denounced the bill, saying it would rile up “those who are racist and bigots.”

She would like for us to believe that Huckabee is all for allowing illegal immigrants to vote in our elections.  That, my friends, is not the truth.  If she would bother to do a little research, she would find citizenship in our country is already a requirement for voting.  You have to show a valid ID when you register to vote.  That means a driver’s license or other valid ID.  You can’t get one of those unless you are a US citizen.  What Mike Huckabee was objecting to in Arkansas Senate Bill SB206 was the way it would treat the children of the illegal immigrants.  So, MS. Coulter, please check your facts before you start attacking someone.  It would give your articles a little more credibility.

That’s my take!

Ann Coulter is just trying to make sure that she gets her name out there to sell more copies of “If Democrats Had Any Brains ….”

Her ideas aren’t worth printing, and I hope that someday Fox and “Human Events” get to understand that.

Very true, Wickle. In my opinion, she and her kind (loudmouths) are one of the things that give conservatives a bad name. Not all of us are that way. She is out for one thing and that is to make more money. I don’t see how she could care about this country and say the things she says, in the way she says them.

There are states where you do not show ID to vote! In fact Georgia just won a lawsuit to make it mandatory to show ID

    Reusha,

Do you not have to show ID when registering to vote? I know you do in Arkansas and in Oklahoma, where I live. At any rate, Mike Huckabee is not for allowing illegal immigrants to vote. What he was objecting to, in the Arkansas Senate Bill SB206, was the way it referred to the immigrants. Again, I say he does not want to allow illegal immigrants to vote. The article was full of misrepresentations of what he said.

Sad that Ann has chosen to outright lie to preserve her darlings tentative place in the top tier. I wanted to believe that she was well meaning and that her gaffes were exceptions. But after she has worked to spread slander I can no longer believe anything positive of her impact on conservativism.

  1. [...] short, you have to know Huckabee’s reasoning to understand his stance on illegal immigration. I dealt with the specifics of this in this article. I think this is what makes him such an appealing candidate, at least for me. Consider the following [...]
