FRC still pushing Romney
Maybe this sort of thing is just beyond my comprehension, but can someone tell me why Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council is saying Romney has been the strongest candidate on the core social issues in this campaign? One News Now has an article that says:
“In my opinion, [Romney] has been the strongest on the core social issues. And I think part of that is that he’s got to convince people it’s for real — because he has had a change on these issues.” Perkins says he does not see Romney going back on those issues. “[I]n spending time with him and talking about them, I do believe they’re genuine,” he adds. “He has staked ground that he’s got to hold to.”
If I didn’t know better, I would start thinking some of these people had something against Huckabee, personally. Sometimes, I wonder if they have even taken the time to research how he stands on the issues. Otherwise, how in the world could they make statements like that? It would be one thing if they had some legitimate concern about Huckabee and his record, or if Romney’s record was similar to Huckabee’s, but there is as much difference between the two as daylight and dark. To top it off, you can not be sure of what you are getting with Romney, (it depends on the wind direction) so why not go with someone you know and can trust? You can’t see me now, but I am sitting here shaking my head in disbelieve. Maybe the Washington Briefing and the FRC Straw Poll will wake them up.
That’s my take!
Larry

larry,
i hear ya! i don’t get it, either.
btw, at the frc wasington briefing, huckabee is slated to be the LAST SPEAKER ON SATURDAY, just a couple hours before the STRAW POLL CLOSES. i’m not sure if that’s a good thing for huckabee, or not. but, i believe, romney is scheduled to be the first speaker on the friday night session. i wonder if they’re also giving favorable time slots for the washington briefing??? can’t help but wonder…
keep up the good work, love reading your blog.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed in men I have admired for so long who are abandoning principles for, well, perhaps a perceived strategy to win or wield some kind of political power or they have just gone off the deep end.
Christians should be involved in the political process, they should have influence but my friends we do not abandon our principles to win politically. When we do, we lose, because we become what we are opposed to.
For the first time in a long time, we have a Christian man driven by principle, a man of strong character, a man who lives what he believes, a man we can trust, a man who by his very nature can restore dignity and trust of the Office of President. As a Christian, supporting Mike Huckabee for President is, in my view, a “no brainer.”
Gary Bauer, Tony Perkins, and Richard Land are seriously compromising Christian principles and values for a political win.
I will not compromise.
Will you?
I think these guys need to get the message: We want Uncompromising Leadership.
“it is better to trust in the Lord, than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord. than to put confidence in princes.” Psalm 118:8-9
Maybe they just forgot.
These Christian Leaders wishing to not support Huckabee are either jealous that they are not in the Governor’s position or they are so incompetent, they think all Christian Leaders are. Probably both.
As to the Straw poll, I think it is a blessing in this way. There will be a total from all votes including on line and a total from the briefing. I believe the briefing total will carry the weight, so with Huckabee speaking last, that is a definite plus. He has a way about him, the Spirit! Can you imagine him in charge of the Country? Yes!!! By the way, our voting in the FRC and joining up as a member will be a large influence on how the Perkins in the organization act after the briefing, we hope.
The reason you don’t understand it…is (drumroll please)…Tony is a lot smarter than you.
He know that one vote for Huck is a vote for Hillary.
Flat Tax…wrong
Immigration…wrong
Presidential…hardly
Lets think past January please
Sorry, Richard, but a vote for Mike Huckabee is a vote for this country, not for Hillary Clinton. He is the only Republican candidate who stands a chance against her.
Huckabee is also pushing for the Fair Tax, not the flat tax. Take a look at the link and see for yourself.
As far as immigration goes, Huckabee is for a strong, secure border and he realizes that all other efforts against illegal immigration are null and void until the border is secure.
Presidential…very much so, in my honest opinion.
