Draft Chip Saltsman for Republican National Chairman
Now that the elections are over for a couple of years, it is very evident that the Republican Party is in a mess, to put it bluntly. Already, there are reports of infighting coming from the John McCain and Sarah Palin staffers and although I honestly do not know if the rumors are true about Sarah Palin, I have had enough of bickering and fighting between the different groups in our party. We can’t even get along amongst each other, so how do we expect to get out of the starting gate, when it comes to making sure the Democrats do not go hog wild in Congress? This entire election has been one big family feud between the different sections of the Republican Party. The social, fiscal, and national security conservatives can’t seem to get along, but our party needs to be reunited with each other before we can possibly begin to think about the next level of national elections. If we don’t, it’s going to really get ugly in two years, when more of our Congress is up for re election. That’s why we need a fresh face at the helm of the Republican National Committee.
Do you remember who Chip Saltsman is? He is the former head of the Tennessee Republican Party and was the master behind the campaign of Mike Huckabee, the former Governor of Arkansas. You remember him, don’t you? He is the candidate who went so far on so little, thanks to his own skills as a speaker and debater. His success was also due, in no small part, to the management of the campaign by Chip Saltsman. I do not know him personally, but from what I have seen, he would make a good chairman for the Republican National Committee.
What exactly does the Republican National Committee do, you may ask? They are responsible for coordinating the Republican national strategy, which includes the party platform and fundraising. From the debacle we have seen in the past several years, our party could certainly use some coordination.
Kevin Tracy has started a movement on Facebook to draft Chip Saltsman for Republican National Chairman and he has this to say about the man.
I had the privilege of meeting Chip Saltsman multiple times on the campaign trail and getting to talk with him on the phone throughout the 2008 campaign. The best thing about Saltsman is that he doesn’t represent any one faction of the Republican Party. He’s not JUST an evangelical. He’s not JUST a fiscal conservative. He’s not just a small government Republican. He’s not JUST a national security Republican. He’s literally everything with equal respect for each faction of the Republican Party. With the party divided more now than at any time since the Taft/Roosevelt Feud in the early 1900s, we need someone who can grasp the entire picture and unite all factions of the party. That’s Chip Saltsman.
You remember the unity I mentioned earlier in this post? Saltsman would be the perfect man to bring that about. Redstate has an article about Chip and former Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist has also joined in the effort to draft him as the Republican National Chairman. Let’s see if we can get it done.
That’s my take!
Larry
