It’s official, former campaign manager for Mike Huckabee, Chip Saltsman, is officially campaigning for the job of Republican National Committee Chairman. With his new website up and running at Chip Saltsman.com, he is actively reaching out to the committee members and laying out why he should be chosen for the job and his plans for the Republican party, if he is elected. He also participated in a conference call today, with several bloggers from across the country. I was at work and unable to join in myself, but you can read two very good articles, with a blow by blow description of the call at One Mom and at Kevin Tracy.

You may wonder why it is so important to have someone like Chip Saltsman as the Chairman of the Republican National Committee, so let me explain. The Republican party was completely out gunned and out managed during this last election cycle and found themselves unable to compete with the campaign machinery of Barack Obama and the Democratic party. Part of that is due to the candidates we put forward, but part of it is due to the way the Republican party has been managed over the last several years. Chip Saltsman is not only willing, but also able to bring every faction of the Republican party together under one roof and he will use every means at his disposal to bring the party away from the brink of extinction.
