Brown defeats Coakley – The shot heard across America
With 66% of the precincts counted, Republican Scott Brown has a 53-46% lead over Democrat Martha Coakley in the special election for United States Senator from Massachusetts. The last count I have heard had an 85,000 vote margin between the two candidates. MSNBC is reporting that Coakley has called Brown to concede the race and FOX News has already called the election for the state Senator. Brown will be heading to Washington, D.C.
Lots of joy and elation for those of us who were hoping this would happen. It is indeed an historic event, given the fact that this Senate seat from Massachusetts has been controlled by the Democrats and the Kennedy family since 1962. No one really gave Scott Brown a chance at first, but he pulled off a masterful campaign and he will now be the 41st vote in the Senate against some President Obama’s policies.
Having said that, we would do well to keep in mind that this is just the beginning. We still have most of the year before the mid-term elections in November and there is a need to keep the fires burning under the feet of our Senators and Representatives in Washington. Members of both parties need to understand that they should be hearing the people on the issues. Not everyone is falling over themselves to get into line with the policies the liberal Democrats are pushing for implementation and they need to stop trying to ram them down our throats.
Buckle your seat belts and hang on. The fight is just getting started.

For blue Massachusetts, that was a trouncing. The voters have sent a loud message.

Yes Larry, you are correct, this is only the begining. We can enjoy this surprising victory for a couple of days but we can not let go of the ultimate gaol. We must push forward into November and take back the senate. It is time for the politicians to begin taking us seriously.

What an amazing win! Most importantly, yet another rebuke against the policies of the Obama administration and the Democratic Congress.
Funny, these people STILL do not seem to get it. I am reading on Michelle Malkin’s blog this morning all about the underhanded, backstabbing reactions by party leaders. These people are blind, they just do not get it.
I am in shock to say the least…happily surprised that Scott Brown pulled it off in the most liberal of states. What a good day this is, America!
