Bristol Palin’s pregnancy rumor debunked

Monday, September 1, 2008
By LD Jackson

I have debated about posting on this topic, simply because I didn’t want to be guilty of spreading false rumors, even if I didn’t believe them myself.  I now feel that there is enough proof to at least put the rumor that Bristol Palin is Trig Palin’s mother to rest.

The DailyKos first published the article with pictures that supposedly showed Bristol with what they called a “baby bump”. This, according to The DailyKos, is proof enough that Bristol Palin is the actual mother of Trig Palin. However, according to Townhall and the actual galllery from The Anchorage Daily News, the picture was taken and published in 2006.

The above picture is the same one being shared by The DailyKos, saying it was published on March 9th, 2008. What they do not tell you is that the photo is actually from a photo gallery about the Palin family and the caption from that gallery says it was taken in 2006. Trig Palin was born April 18, 2008. That’s a bit of a stretch, don’t you think? The link I have provided will take you to the gallery itself where you can browse through all the pictures, with the captions, not just a picture that can be manipulated.

Whatever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”?

That’s my take!

Larry, these people are sick! Leftist are very sick! Now we just need to transfer our wealth to the poor and life will become more absurd.

You know, I read the story on Daily Kos and just thought it was classless … I didn’t care to look into how badly the story gets the facts wrong … Bristol is a young girl. Now she’s the focus of rumors accusing her of being pregnant and focusing on her belly. Nice, guys. Real nice. Just what every teenage girl needs, to be the focus of reprobate rumor-mongers.

I genuinely want to punch Kos right now.

  3. CKA in Red State USA says:

You’re not spreading rumors. The Obamaiots are intellectual cowards, base people who haven’t the testicularity to actually present the truth or refrain from slander.

Put biblically, they all have reprobate minds.

And they are consuming themselves, destroying their souls, with the excrement that fills their hearts.

    Their day is coming, though.

It’s first half as last Friday, when McCain announced Palin as his running mate.

It’s second half will be November’s Election Day, when Obama-Biden will be no more and after which both can go back to the Senate–that is, unless Biden has the courage to drop his senate campaign.

  4. irishspacemonk says:

These rumors would be put to rest easily enough if Bristols fiance was announced (she’s wearing a wedding ring), another child carried the baby a bit, or even perhaps Palin carried the baby a bit…wait…perhaps Palin should be taking care of the child or leave it at home instead of campaigning with the baby. I agree, it’s pretty classless to follow this rumor, but it seemed classless to accuse John Edwards of a love child too, or question Barack and Michelle’s patriotism and Christianity, but the right wing freaks didn’t have too much of a problem with that one. Sorry to rain on your poster-girl Republican, but she lacks experience and has never been vetted on the national stage. Wasilla is a tiny little town I grew up in – people don’t vote for mayor there because the mayor doesn’t do anything.

  5. Gary says:

Irishspacemonk, Palin has more executive experience in her 20 months as Governor than Obama has, he is just a Senator.

When Michelle Obama makes comments like this ” I am finally proud of my Country” or something of the sort, then I think people have a right to question her patriotism.

  6. Robin Hood says:

Personally, I don’t give a trig. On the one hand, if Sarah is the mother, her story shows that she does not possess the requisite sober judgment to inhabit the Oval Office, as she put both herself and her child at grave risk in flying back to Anchorage after her water broke (yes, even partially) and contractions started, as (1) the risk of infection is quite grave, and (2) the risk of her giving birth on the flight is substantial. Try delivering a baby in the middle of in-flight turbulence, three hundred miles from the nearest airport of substance.

On the other hand, if Bristol was the mother of Trig, it could turn out to be an enormous political opportunity — but only if Palin comes clean, and now. Imagine her giving a modern-day “Checkers” speech, and asking the audience whether she should step down from the position. Want to bet on how that would turn out?

  7. Rhino says:

Larry has done a fine job of debunking the photograph of a “pregnant” Bristol. That doesn’t debunk ANY of the other stuff. BTW, couldn’t Bristol have been “pregnant” twice? That happens a lot in the real world. Somebody get some DNA!

  8. Gary says:

Rhino, don’t you people ever quit??????? Give it a rest already.

  9. Gary says:

As Uhm says, this is indeed true. CNN has an article about it.

This in no way changes the fact that the liberal bloggers were trying to discredit Mrs. Palin by starting the UNTRUE rumors that her 5th child wasn’t hers. That is bad politics at it’s worst, if you ask me.

  10. Just Wondering says:

Says alot about family values….but then it is cold and dark in Alaska most of the time…so when your mama is out doing her thing I guess the kids will play… Mrs. Palin needs to stay in her own house instead of the White House before her other daughter turns up pregnant!!!!

  11. Gary says:

Just Wondering, I guess it would have been fine for them to cover it up by killing the baby. (Sarcasm intended)

Yeah, that would say a lot about their family values.

Also, I wouldn’t have a problem with Mr. and Mrs. Palin raising the baby as their own, if that is what it took to make sure the baby had a loving family to make sure it was loved and taken care of.

  12. sauerkraut says:

Actually, many of the so-called liberal bloggers have been writing for days that both mother and daughter were pregnant.

A shame really because the daughter has now done the same thing as the mother. But mother is a big proponent of abstinence. Perhaps mother should have spent more time supervising her daughter instead of leaving Bristol with gramma.

And so daughter will now trade the silver ring for the gold ring. But the mother will continue to push for abstinence. Which leaves a whole bunch of teenage girls wondering about this entier “do as I say not as I do” thing which too often eminates from the orifices of our republican leadership.

  13. tsfiles says:

I find it shocking and hypocritical that the same malcontents who openly support infanticide until the moment of birth actually object to a 17 year old being pregnant. It is leftist policies of the last 30 years which have led to a spike in teen pregnancy, teen STDs, and teen abortions. Yes, Palin’s daughter is clearly responsible for her actions, but liberals have zero moral authority to condemn her on any ground.

    ~ Sisyphus

  14. tsfiles says:

“Mrs. Palin needs to stay in her own house instead of the White House before her other daughter turns up pregnant!!!!”

Fascinating. Because of Palin’s beliefs and party affiliation, the same people who claim to support the advancement of women are condemning her because she is not embracing the gender roles feminists have condemned for decades.

Leftist hypocrisy cannot get any thicker.

  15. Gary says:

Sauerkraut, how has the daughter done the same thing as the mother? Just because the daughter didn’t abstain doesn’t make the Mother any less of a good Mother or person. As any one with kids knows, kids don’t always do what the parents teach them to do.

  16. Xena says:

Children not only learn what they live, they live what they learn. This child apparently has been given the responsibility of parenting her sibling as her mother’s responsibility of politics overshadows her own parenting responsibility. Bristol Palin should have no qualms about becoming a parent to her own biological child as her responsibilities for her brother(?) Trig, which should have been her mother’s responsibility, makes it alright for her to be a parent instead of being a teen.

A mother who states that she is proud to be a grandparent when her teen daughter is pregnant, is in denial that something went wrong. It appears that she endorses the premature marriage of this young couple. Statistics show that young marriages tend to end up in divorce. Really, the values of family are muddled in politics.

Sure her mother is anti-abortion, but being pro-responsibility is a stronger value, as that includes prevention and responsible decision making. When this value is upheld, the issue of abortion is moot. What do pro-life groups do beyond protesting abortion and encouraging the destruction of family planning clinics and physicians. As parents who are not ready, willing or able to support and parent their children end up abusing or neglecting their children, how much energy is place by pro life people on the care of lives of these people. Leave it to the government? I suppose if that is the case, then the government should control the morals and individual rights citizens.

  17. Gary says:

Xena, just because a person is proud of their grandchild doesn’t mean they approve of what the son or daughter did. It is none of anyones business how this matter is handled within the family.

And I say once again, if a child is taught one thing, that doesn’t always mean that the teaching is taken to heart. I wish it did but it doesn’t always work that way.

Also, just because a woman has a child at a young age doesn’t mean the marriage won’t last. I know a woman who was pregnant at age 14 and she has been married for over 60 years now.

  18. MsAnna says:

Why do Republicans try to legislate their morals when they can’t live up to them themselves? Rush Limbaugh and George Bush both do/have done drugs while they are proponents of the WAR on Drugs. Republican politicians are pro-family values while they have have extra martial affairs. Republican politicians are anti-gay while they have gay affairs. You have unwed pregnancy but you are anti-premarital sex. And, yes, republican politicians are anti-abortion while they make their wives have them.

In the face of all of the over-exposure you have had for the last 8 years,
can you please finally stop being so judgmental and hypocritical?
    That’s all we ask.
We love your values but can you admit that you can’t even live up to them.

    I guess not…

    Ok fine….

It the fault of the dirty mean spirited lefties…

  19. Gary says:

Don’t paint all Republicans with the same brush, MsAnna. I am sure most people have done something as a youth or young adult that they aren’t proud of. As far as these family values you speak of, these are simply values that are taught in the Holy Bible and if you don’t believe in the Bible then there is nothing that anyone can say that will change your mind.

  20. Larry says:

First of all, I want to thank my brother, Gary for standing in for me on my blog while my family was visiting our daughter and her husband about an hour and a half away from my computer. Now, on to the comments.

Actually, Gary has done a pretty good job of handling what has been said in the comments. I would like to reiterate something though. Sauerkraut has made a bold statement, saying the daughter is guilty of the same thing her mother was guilty of. I believe you are trying to talk about things which you know nothing about. How has Sarah Palin been guilty of the same thing her daughter has done? Put up or shut up.

One more thing. The woman Gary was talking about in his comment above, the one who was pregnant when she was 14? That is our Mom. She and Dad have been married for over 60 years now, so don’t tell me about marriages not lasting. They can and they do. Enough said.

  21. clancop says:

I wrote a blog entry a variety of topics today, this being one of them. Good post.

  22. Society was a totally different place 60 years ago. The values people had were starkly different to the ones we have now. In this day and age, it is highly unlikely that a 14 year old will marry and stay married. It’s like comparing apples and oranges.

Also, in that picture allegedly from 2006, that child looks pregnant. I am not saying she was pregnant with Trig. That wouldn’t add up. I am saying she looks quite pregnant in the picture. Either that picture is misdated or someone was suffering from a very severe case of distended abdomen. If not that, then swollen uterus syndrome.

I could not agree MORE! I have made several comments on other blogs concerning these comments about how Sarah Palin needs to stay at home and plan her daughters wedding and take care of her disabled son, ect. And YES, it is coming from people who support the claim to WOMEN’S RIGHTS? Our daughters can be anything they want?? But Sarah Palin can’t be VP because she needs to “stay home with the kids”….the hipocracy is astounding….really….

  24. badger says:

While I do commend Sarah Palin for standing by her daughter in what must be a difficult time, I do not approve of McCain’s pick as VP. There’s a lot more at stake than a teenage pregnancy. Is she ready to be president should something happen to John? I don’t know. I don’t know her at all. The first I heard of her was earlier this week when McCain tapped her as VP. I’m sure she’s a nice lady, but nice ladies don’t make presidents. (neither do nice guys for that matter) Lets get down to the issues that are really at stake. You know: the war in Iraq, our busted economy, our stained constitution and freedom from fossil fuels. Let’s get back to business shall we?

  25. schugie says:

Leftists are not sick. We’re just interested in a story like the fake pregnancy because it would prove SP to be a total liar. Much like the crazy right-wingers and their obsession with Bill Clinton.

  26. Charles II says:

When people interview for one of the top positions in the United States, their veracity is a legitimate question. Sarah Palin seems to understand it. Her supporters should get used to it, or use the fainting couch in the washroom.

One might also point out that the like of Limbaugh attacked Chelsea Clinton very personally from the time she was 12 years old. Working purely out of the sewage of their own minds, right wing networks spread word that Bill Clinton had seduced her. I would be very surprised if some of those baying so fiercely against asking questions aren’t hypocrites in danger of spontaneous combustion.

In this case, there were many puzzling facts, especially the claim that Governor Palin had flown home from Texas to Alaska and then driven an additional 45 minutes to a rural health clinic after her water had broken in order to give birth to Trig in Alaska. I accept Palin’s explanations, but any of her supporters who don’t think that questions would be asked of a person into whose hands we might be placing the fate of the entire American people should stop now and go look for a clue.

  27. Larry says:

    Schugie,
Well, it looks like the rumor was just someone’s sick imagination, instead of cold hard fact. Sarah Palin isn’t a total liar after all. What do you know about that?

Call me a crazy right-winger all you want, but you don’t even want to get me started on Bill Clinton.

  28. Larry says:

    Charles II,
Just for the record, I don’t care for Rush Limbaugh myself and I do not believe he had any right to be attacking a 12 year old Chelsea Clinton. The kind of things he does are just sick. Don’t get me wrong, I am no fan of Bill Clinton, but to bring his daughter into it is simply wrong.

  29. wickle says:

Charles II, backing up Larry on this one …

He has often called out dirty tactics, unfair attacks, etc., and he’s made it clear that Limbaugh is as revolting to him as to any honorable person.

For my own part, I see Limbaugh as revolting. But, you’re right, this attack is Limbaugh-esque. He referred to Chelsea as the White House dog, as I recall. I never heard the story of Bill Clinton seducing her, but I’ll take this opportunity to condemn it, too.

However, it’s interesting that your defense is that it’s no better than Limbaugh. I’ll counter with: it’s no better.

  30. Lottie says:

Leftists are not sick. We’re just interested in a story like the fake pregnancy because it would prove SP to be a total liar. Much like the crazy right-wingers and their obsession with Bill Clinton.

I’m a Lefty and I don’t understand this line of thinking.

The Right’s “obsession” with Bill Clinton is crazy, so you want to do exactly what you deem irrational to show… what, exactly?

Bill Clinton’s and John Edwards’ personal affairs are none of my business, and I’m not going to hold a double standard when it comes to Palin just because she’s on the opposing team. It’s hypocritical, and dishonest. Simple as that.

  31. Larry says:

Actually, Bill Clinton was bald faced lying to the public, while he was in office. That makes it our business. That being said, I also have no use for Newt Gingrich, who was the leading voice in trying to get Clinton impeached. All the time he was voicing his opposition to Bill Clinton, he was guilty of an adultery himself. His high moral standards evidently didn’t extend to himself.

In my honest opinion, a lot of politicians from both parties have not acquitted themselves very well when it comes to moral issues.

  32. Lottie says:

They all lie while in office. But whatever their individual definitions of “moral” may be, one would expect consistency to be part of it.

But seriously, this whole attack on the Palin family is totally out of line! Obama said he would fire anyone from his campaign who takes part in it. Good for him!

  33. Tee says:

Here is what I’m tired of:

I am tired of liberal bloggers taking this way too far. I think it is totally beneath us and Barack Obama himself has told them to stop. As he said, these types of stories/rumors have no place in politics.

But, I am also tired of the right leaning bloggers lumping all the liberal bloggers together. Not all of us jumped on this story foaming at the mouth – in fact, a majority of us told the DailyKos blogger who posted about it to delete the story and leave it alone.

It’s unfair to pin this on all liberals or all left leaning bloggers or all Obama supporters. Some of us strive to achieve the same level of integrity as Barack Obama – we strive to support a higher form of politics and to leave this trash where it belongs – in the tabloids.

I see a lot of casting of stones and hypocrisy on BOTH sides and I think everyone should take a deep breath and a step back to see where they fit in here and if they’ve conducted themselves in a way they feel proud of.

As Abraham Lincoln said, “We must appeal to the better angels of our nature.”

  34. Lottie says:

    Tee: Very well stated!

  35. Larry says:

    Tee and Lottie,

Both of you stated it very well. You are right, bloggers on both sides of the spectrum have been getting out of hand, especially with the personal attacks. Thanks for bringing it up.

As for Barack Obama, I do not believe he would do our country any good, but I do applaud him for making sure his campaign stayed away from personal attacks on the Palin family.

  36. Steve says:

The title of this thread is: “Bristol Palin’s pregnancy rumor debunked”.

    Oops!

    Never mind.

  37. Steve says:

Whose kidding whom? Alaska’s total population (about 670,000) is less than the population of a mid size California city like San Francisco, CA. And Alaska is run like Venezuela: 80% of its budget comes from oil subsidies. She’s been gov. for less than two years. Before that, she was mayor of a city with less than 10,000 people (with a reputation for over the top partisanship). It’s not clear Palin has ever visited another country, aside from flying over Canada. She seems like a smart, energetic, ambitious person. But any honest observer would acknowledge that if the Democrats nominated someone with that little relevance to America’s overall set of problems, demographics, and standing in the world, then the Republicans would rightly be slamming them for being irresponsible.

  38. Larry says:

I would assume you are trying to be sarcastic, but it is obvious you don’t know what you are talking about. The rumor that was started was clearly false. Yes, she is pregnant now, but she isn’t the mother of Trig Palin. Get over it is all I can say.

  39. Larry says:

With all due respect, Barack Obama hasn’t ran anything except his mouth, running for President. Sarah Palin has more experience than he does. She is also in tune more with what regular Americans are going through, much more than Barack Obama. I think we are doing pretty good with her as our nominee for Vice President.

  40. SteveE says:

I hope some on and debunk or prove this rumor soon. I do find it strange that Bristol was out of school becuase of infectious Mono the 4 months before Trig’s birth, and yet was able to conceive during that time? Shouldn’t her boyfriend now be infected?

Also, the whole “no one noticed Sarah was pregnant” and “back to work 3 days later” things seems weird (while Bristol was keep in seclusion with Mono?).

Ans what gets me most is the 11 hour flight and not having the baby in a hospital with a baby ICU (when there were lots available). My wife had a baby 1 month early and the doctor said we needed to have it at a hospital with an ICU and it was not even a special needs one like Trig.

This is all very strange. Can anyone debunk those things?

  41. Larry says:

The rumor has already been proven false. How can Trig be Bristol’s baby when she is pregnant already? In my opinion, the topic is closed.
