Bill Ayers and Barack Obama
We are all very familiar with the questions about Barack Obama’s relationship with William (Bill) Ayers, the Vietnam era radical terrorist who has said he wishes he could have done more during his time of rebellion. As if planting bombs in his own country was not enough. More familiar are the denials by Obama that he was not friends with the man, that he barely knew him, and that he was just a man who lived in his neighborhood and worked on education issues. Well, now that the election is over and Obama has won, Bill Ayers has released a paperback version of his 2001 memoir, Fugitive Days, and the afterword of that memoir tells a different story than Obama did, during the campaign. The Chicago Tribune has an excerpt from that afterword.
“We had served together on the board of a foundation, knew one another as neighbors and family friends, held an initial fund-raiser at my house, where I’d made a small donation to his earliest political campaign.”
Of course, the term “family friends” is not defined and Ayers has declined to elaborate on that statement. It does make one wonder just how close the two men really were or are. It brings to light again, Barack Obama’s questionable relationships with different people.
The Chicago Tribune has another quote from Ayers that is even more disturbing, in my honest opinion.
“The more serious point is that Obama was asked once more to defend something that ought to be at the very heart of democracy: the importance of talking to many people in this complicated and wildly diverse society, of listening with the possibility of learning something new, of speaking with the possibility of persuading or influencing others. … In a robust and sophisticated democracy, political leaders, indeed, all of us, would seek out ways to talk with many people who hold dissenting, even radical, ideas.”
Since when is a radical terrorist, who bombed his own country, just a person who holds dissenting ideas? Since when does a person who is willing to kill his own countrymen deserve to be negotiated with? Need I remind you how Ayers was not willing to sit and talk with the people of this country who held different opinions than him, but chose rather to plant bombs and try to kill them? It amazes me that someone like William Ayers is even allowed to walk free in our country, given what he is guilty of. I know he was freed because our law enforcement failed to get their ducks in a row, but that doesn’t make him any less guilty. It boggles my mind that he can get a job teaching our young people and it makes me wonder what he actually teaches them, but that can wait for later.
All of these are legitimate questions and it makes one ponder the thought; just how many lies did Barack Obama weave in winning this election. Yes, I fully understand he has won this election and I am hoping he serves our country well, but it does not keep me from wondering just what kind of song and dance the voters of America have bought in electing their first African American President.
That’s my take!
Larry

Larry, I agree with you on this. One problem, to me, is the fact most Americans weren’t even listening to the song; he told much about himself, but the people were more interested in “change” than what would be best for our country.
It seems the majority of Americans care absolutely nothing about the man’s associations, left-wing ideas, socialist tendencies, and more. Personally, I would be ashamed and embarrassed if I had voted for a man like that.
Good questions ah! Looks like you took enough time to investigate Obama. How i wish you took half this time to investigate your outgoing president. Am not American but at least am a strong supporter of Obama. Your argument is valid but it doesn’t make Obama such a bad man. He is the only hope of liberating, not only USA but the whole world from this mess that all previous presidents have put us in! Take Africa for instance, innocent people are being attacked because their leaders have ties with USA in the fight against terrorism! In the middle east, USA is busy drawing oil and Arabs are busy fighting with the weapons supplied by USA! Do you think this is fair? Of course not.
Europe has been forced into war by the USA and enormous resources are being spent on killing innocent civilians in the name of fighting terrorism! And what for? To protect Israel, the settler and help it expand into Palestinian territories…Palestinians are made refugges in their own land but they are still made to looklike they are the transgressers!
If Obama lives up to his campaign pledges, only then shall peace return.
Your argument against Obama is valid but not as important!
khisa,
If Obama lives up to his campaign promises, our country will certainly never be the same again. His tax increases and his healthcare program will cause layoffs of workers because the businesses can not afford to pay them and pay the cost of Obama’s plan.
I could not disagree with you more when you try to insinuate America is the cause of Africa’s problems. They have their own troubles and we have nothing to do with that. Just because they can not get along is not our fault.
We do not need Obama to liberate anyone.
As for Israel, you seem to think they are the aggressor, but the rest of the Arab countries have tried their best to wipe them off the face of the earth and they are only defending themselves.
Larry and everyone,
Straight from the horse’s mouth.
And I don’t think anyone can say that the reporter interviewing Ayers coddled or pandered to him. In fact, I think he tried very hard to back him into a corner…..

khisa – liberate us? Obama will take more of our freedoms away…
My concern with Obama and Ayers was always: how much of a “meeting of the minds” was there? How much of what Ayers believes does Obama… and it seems Obama at least beieves with Ayers indoctrine of students approach to education…
