Barack Obama undermines the Bush administration and the military
One of the first things I disliked about Barack Obama is the way he seems to hold himself above us normal folk, as if he knows better than all of us what is best. Well, it seems as if our friend, the good Senator from Illinois has done it again. Not only has he been guilty of undermining a sitting President, he has also tried to undermine the men and women who defend our country with their very lives.
Do you remember the trip to Iraq in July? It seems this little jaunt to the Middle East served more than one purpose for Obama. One of his campaign promises has been to withdraw our troops from Iraq, however, in private meetings with the Iraqi leadership in July, he urged them to delay any agreement for the withdrawal of American troops from their country. Amir Taheri details this in an article in the New York Post.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops – and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion.”
I will say this for Obama. His lack of understanding about Iraq and his audacity are both amazing. First, he says he wants our troops out and even goes so far as to press General David Petraus for a suggested withdrawal date and while during the very same trip to Iraq, he does his best to undermine the office of President and as far as I am concerned, the authority of the military leaders who are in command in Iraq. Just who does he think he is to press General Petraus in such a manner? If he were President, then that would be a different matter, but Obama is just a junior Senator from Illinois who hasn’t won the White House just yet and that doesn’t give him the right to go behind President Bush’s back and try to influence a foreign government to go against a sitting President and his administration.
Anyone want to guess as to why he has done this? I will give you one and one alone. Obama is out to make himself and his policies look as good as he possibly can, even at the risk of undermining our military and the office of President or, dare I say it, even to the point of losing the war in Iraq. In doing so, he has made himself look like a fool and even though some in the world will fall for his speeches of hope and change, hopefully the American people will see through those speeches and see the man for what he really is.

That’s my take!
Larry

Right on. Completely agree with you. He makes me sick.
Good morning, Larry. First, I like the new look. Secondly, it seem to be all about him, doesn’t it? How sad that a candidate would put himself above the people who defend our great nation. While reading many blogs lately, I am amazed at the people who are supporting the Illinois senator. With what they profess in other parts of their lives, it seems they should know better. It’s astonishing to me how blind some people are.
One more thing, in the last paragraph in your post, the link to National Review is broken (http://http/www.nationalreview.com/
I was in such a hurry; second sentence should read “…it seems to be…”
Ron,
Thanks for pointing out about the link. I have it fixed now, so it should work.
Yes, Barack Obama is after one thing, the office of the President, and he is willing to do what it takes and step on whom it takes to achieve that goal. For him to go around, undermining a sitting President is simply wrong.
