If you polled the far left they might tell you they are currently holding an empty bag! If a Republican president is elected with an obstructionist Dem Congress, Republicans will be left holding a mostly empty bag. That is why I suggested over a year ago that conservative focus should be on control of the Senate. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Dems will resist the conservative agenda.

American economic revival will probably have to take place via altered trade policy with China, a continuing strong military, developing our energy resources and some corporate tax reform. These issues are in the interest of both parties and all Americans. The repeal of Obamacare and Dodd-Frank will be more party line issues and (unfortunately) are less likely. Romney presents the best opportunity to get some of the partisan work done as even those will probably require some Democrats to vote yes. As it stands, there are certain policies that must be accomplished to avoid catastrophe -- and then there are works that are on my wish list that will likely not get done (short of a Senate landside for the right).

Control of the Presidency and Congress doesn't mean Dems are dead. In 2008 Dems were saying Republicans were dead. They were wrong. What I am sharing doesn't necessarily define my political wishes. If I could wish some things away I would. What I am suggesting is that Romney may present the best opportunity to help this country recover. We cannot afford another term without structural change that serves our economy. To achieve that chang the control of Congress would be helpful, but even then, Dems and Repubs will likely need to vote on the same side of some issues. Romney

Herman Cain and his stint on the board of directors at the Federal Reserve

Voting for Cain is like voting for the fox to guard the hen house.

if Romney is the nominee, they will vote for Obama

Most other candidates, I simply won't vote. If it's Romney, I'll vote for Obama. I mean, if we're not going to take our economic crisis seriously, might as well stick with the devil we know.

virtually impossible for us to withdraw from the world scene and not suffer devastating economic chaos

That doesn't make sense. Not even a little. Policing the world and building nations is an economic drain on our country, not a boom. Not to mention that building nations is a utopian fantasy. Besides, where will we get the money to continue these boondoggles? The Fed's Magic Printing Press?

Bachmann’s comment on “6-6-6″ shows her to be a desperate fool

666 is the first thing I thought of when I heard Cain's plan too. Hey, I'm no fan of Bachmann, but she's got better limited-government creds than anyone outside of Paul. Do conservatives actually care about limits on government? Or simply about Republicans "winning"? At least Bachmann had the good sense to vote against TARP.

Cain’s support of TARP, there were many people who supported the idea, but hated the way it was implemented

The problems with TARP have absolutely nothing to do with the way it was implemented. If you believe that, I've got a nice bridge to sell you, but something tells me you know that TARP was wrong, in fact a crime, from the get-go.

One organization of unelected bureaucrats has a total monopoly on money and banking. It sets all the rules, all the regulations, and is protected from competition by government guns. It's fingerprints are all over the economic collapse crime scene, and it was aided and abetted by Fannie and Freddie, 2 other government created and protected monopolies.

Conservatives, your limited-government creds are on the line. The Fed is the most powerful, all-encompassing central planning agency in our nation, and their track-record is (predictably) miserable. How much more misery are you willing to endure for the sake of Republicans "winning" before you admit that President Andrew Jackson was right?

I don't know, KP. Maybe Mitt Romney is our best hope of turning back the liberal onslaught, but I have my doubts. Would he be better than Obama? Most assuredly, yes. However, I am afraid he will be all to willing to compromise with the liberals, instead of standing his ground.

Yes, I do realize compromise may very well be needed to help bring our country out of the place it is in, but we do not need the kind of compromise that leaves conservatives holding an empty bag. That's what I am afraid of with Romney.
