Duck your heads, here comes the hail and tornadoes
Well, it looks like we are in for a long night and possibly a long rest of the week of storms and rain. We were sitting here, minding our own business, when the hail started coming down. Randi just about had a fit because Cherokee was out in the yard and not in the garage. She just knew he was going to get himself hurt. She shouldn’t have worried because after it calmed down a bit and I went to check on him, I found him under our little shed. You wouldn’t have thought he could have crammed his fourty pound body under there, but there he was, poking his nose out and wondering if it was safe to come out with me standing there, doing my best to coax him out and getting soaked. I reckon he didn’t have much faith in his doghouse when that hail started landing all around him. Needless to say, he is now resting comfortably in our utility room, right in the middle of the dirty clothes basket.
So far, there has been damage in the Fort Smith and Alma, AR areas, but the only thing I can find at our place is one of the turn signal lenses was knocked loose from my car. Listening to the radio, KISR, a local rock station that has excellant weather coverage, said their van was going to need completely new windows. I have heard of trees being uprooted in Central City, which is east of Fort Smith. Hopefully, it will calm down and just rain the rest of the night. That, I can live with. The rest of it, I can live without.
If you are interested, here is the link to the radar in our area. It looks pretty nasty.
That’s my take!
Larry

1I was looking at that radar a little while ago and thinking your house must be under there somewhere. Hopefully it will just be rain. They are saying we may get storms tomorrow and tomorrow night but the worst coming on Friday. Then they are saying we are going to have SNOW this weekend! Oh my!
There was one surprise tornado in Michigan last night. Did a quite a bit of damage in a rural area though, so no injuries. It was a high-end EF1.
Your “puppy” is 40 pounds now?! Oh my! Our pup weighed in at the vet last week at 12.5 pounds. She’s 11 weeks today and I’m sure she weighs more than that now, but no where near 40 pounds.
Yes, things were getting a little bit interesting there for a while. I just got off the phone with my Mom and evidently, there is quite a bit of damage in Muldrow, which is just to the west of Roland, where we live. A couple of houses had gas leaks and one house was on fire. Lots of trees down and things like that. So far, all of our family are okay. Thank God for that.
Yes, Cherokee is right around 40 pounds and he is quite the character. I have been breaking him to lead and that gets a little crazy at times, but I just make sure I don’t let him fight it and he is getting the idea pretty quick. He surely is scared to death of storms though. He is a lot happier laying in the clothes basket.
I have a friend in Tulsa and she told me her boss lost 3 cars last night to a similar storm. According to her, all there were totaled. She said the hail tonight was the size of baseballs!
Please stay safe! We like having you around Larry (and Tammy).
I hope that the night went well. My father was stationed near Lubbock, TX for five years, and I remember some of those nights. I hope that all went well. Take care.
