I would add one more thing to Kathy W’s comment. I hope the prison cell they send him to is not a cozy prison that is home away from home. He doesn’t need to be mistreated but he also needs to realize this is a punishment and just because he is used to having anything he wants because of his money doesn’t mean he should get the same treatment in prison.

haha, that’s funny!

I think I heard somewhere that the mimimum sentence should still be at least 10 yrs, and even that could become a life sentence for this guy. I personally think it would be fair and fitting for him to spend the rest of his years in jail. He had a long run, at the expense of his victims, but now it’s over. We need to be strong in our punishment of these weatlhy white-collar criminals, so we can send a message to the rest of the business world, that when you engage in unethical business practices, the consequences will be severe. If he gets a slap on the wrist, how does that deter future white-collar crimes?

Madoff entered his plea this morning. I heard a CNN news anchor earlier talking about the 150 year possible sentence. She said: "at 70 years old, that long of a sentence is basically a life sentence for Mr. Madoff...". A sentence of 150 years would be a life sentence for just about everybody, don't you think?
