Benghazi – Will The Truth Finally Be Told?

This is just one of the important questions that we need the answers to. Will the truth finally be told about what happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012? Heretofore, we have been lied to, deliberately misled about the events surrounding the deaths of four Americans who were serving their country. Chis Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone Woods all died in Benghazi. While the deaths were tragic, in and of themselves, it gets worse. There appears to be clear evidence that the deaths could have possibly been avoided, but the truth has been hidden, covered up at every turn by the Obama administration.

For months, we have heard about the survivors of the Benghazi attack. At first, they were muzzled and the press had absolutely no access to them. Investigators were not allowed to talk to them and their stories were suppressed. At long last, some of them will finally be able to tell us what really happened that night in Benghazi. They will testify before a Congressional committee on Wednesday.

Fox News – Their identities have been a well-guarded secret, known only to their high-powered lawyers and a handful of House lawmakers and staff. But now Fox News has learned the names of the self-described Benghazi “whistleblowers” who are set to testify before a widely anticipated congressional hearing on Wednesday.

Appearing before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will be three career State Department officials: Gregory N. Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya at the time of the Benghazi terrorist attacks; Mark I. Thompson, a former Marine and now the deputy coordinator for Operations in the agency’s Counterterrorism Bureau; and Eric Nordstrom, a diplomatic security officer who was the regional security officer in Libya, the top security officer in the country in the months leading up to the attacks.

Benghazi, LibyaIf you care about what is happening in our country and around the world, you should care about the outcome of this hearing. We all should care about the information that will be revealed, if these three men are allowed to tell their stories with no limitations. Until now, the Obama administration has scrambled to hide the mistakes, and what appears to be a clear dereliction of duty, before, during, and after the debacle in Benghazi. I am hopeful that the truth will finally be told and justice will be served for the four men who died on that night.

There is one thing of importance to note, especially for any liberals who may read this post and want to accuse me of just piling on President Obama and trying to damage him in his second term. Nothing could be further from the truth. What I am interested in is the truth. From the small amount of evidence we have access to, it is clear that something went horribly wrong that night.

Even though I believe the Obama administration is culpable in what happened, and in the coverup that has followed, this is not about President Obama.

Hear me clearly. This is about the truth of what happened in Benghazi and how four of our citizens, who were serving their country, were allowed to die, even though we had ways to respond to the threat on their lives. I say again, we want the truth about what happened in Benghazi. Nothing more and nothing less.

From day one the GOP has hyped Benghazi for political motives and this appears just more of the same. Fox News coverage has been so off base that it has lost all credibility on the topic.

Heck, McCain was railing before the cameras about a lack of info at the exact same time that the special briefing he had been invited to was occurring.

Now, with the real chance of Hillary running for President, the GOP is desperate to try and find something to criticize.

I would be more likely to believe this GOP effort was sincere if they had gone after the 69 embassy personnel deaths that occurred under Bush.

Do I think we are not being told the whole truth about Benghazi? Yes I do. I think a CIA black op was involved (was it one of the “ghost” prisons?) and it will be 50 years or more before the whole story comes out.

    • You seriously want to go back to blaming Bush?

Trust me, if a CIA black op was involved in this, President Obama had to have known about it. In spite of his efforts to hide his involvement, he is not completely blameless for what happened in Benghazi.

Four Americans died in Benghazi and the events surrounding their deaths have been covered up from the time the attack took place. I have no idea if Hillary Clinton was involved, but it is likely she was. However, this has nothing to do with her, unless it is proven she was involved. This is about finding the truth of what happened that night and letting the chips fall where they may. If that involves Hillary Clinton and/or President Obama, then so be it.

What I am referring to is the fact that Fox hyped the 4 deaths… but when there are 69 embassy deaths under Bush, there is not a peep out of the GOP. Does make it rather look like the “indignation” about the “4 American deaths” is just political theater. IMO the American public sees this GOP Benghazi campaign as just more political antics. This is total hyped up non scandal.

Sure if there was a CIA black op there the President knew. That does not mean it gets disclosed. In the Congressional hearings it was clear a lot of this was classified. There was repeated testimony to this effect. When there are national security reasons for not disclosing info, all that can be said is it “classified”. There are congressional leaders who would have been briefed about what actually happened, McCain being one. But they cannot talk about it either. After McCain finally turned up for his briefing, he really toned down his comments about Benghazi.

And if there was a CIA black ops going on, we are not going to find out about it. I read that about 90% of the Americans at the site were CIA. Now what were all those guys doing there? My best guess, and I could be totally wrong, is that the CIA was operating one of its secret “ghost” prisons there. The local bad guys decided to “liberate” their fellow jihadists and that fire fight was a result. Sure the Obama administration knew this from the get go.. but they could not publicly say so, without disclosing the CIA op… hence all the smoke and mirrors about the video and what was the real cause etc. No way could our government bring in the military and expose that secret prison, even if it meant the loss of American lives.

        • These deaths have not been hyped. They have been questioned and rightfully so. No one is trying to say there were not deaths while George W. Bush was President, but as far as I know, a coverup was not used in those deaths.

The Obama administration has been anything but open about the attack that left four of our citizens dead. Black op or not, it is inexcusable that they were allowed to die with no help sent. That is what bothers us the most and we have heard no plausible explanation as to why it unfolded the way it did.

          Absolutely inexcusable!

          • Bettybb

If you use the criteria being used to say there is a cover up for Benghazi (ie what the government said the cause might have been vs what the government thought likely) well, yes there were covers up under Bush too.

It is standard practice for the government not to give a definitive reason for an attack until all the facts are in.. and that usually takes a couple of months. So they issue a lot of wishy washy statements, like they did with Benghazi and with the embassy attacks under Bush.

Plus, you have to realize that there is often a need for a smoke screen because the conflict is ongoing. That happened in Bengahzi. Rice did not lie. She said it “might” be the video, not that it was. It would have been very rash, and may well have stoked the flames,(both in Libya and Cairo) for the US government at that juncture to say it was terrorists. Plus, if this was a CIA black op gone wrong, for national security reasons, the government is going to kick up as much dust as possible.

The Obama administration has been very open about the attack..except they will not release classified info. There was a congressional hearing where Hillary demolished the critics. There was an extensive non partisan report.

What bothers me most about this is that fact that the Obama administration asked for more money for embassy security and the GOP refused.

            • You are doing nothing but offering excuses for what happened in Benghazi and none of them are credible. We are not interested in hearing excuses, we want answers.

As for the GOP refusing the money for embassy security in Benghazi, that is not true. According to the sources I have found, it was the State Department who repeatedly turned down the requests for extra security because they wanted to keep security forces artificially low.

              • Bettybb

In 2011 the GOP cut embassy security funding by $128 million.

In 2012 the GOP cut embassy security funding by $331 million – Dems in the Senate negotiated a reduction in the cut by $88 million so only $243 million was cut instead of the full $331 million.

Hillary warned in 2012 that these GOP cuts would hurt national security but the GOP disagreed.

Ryan’s budget would cut $400 million more from embassy security

Honestly, the Republicans’ Benghazi outrage really does look like crocodile tears.

The State Depart. cannot provide security it can not pay for because the Republicans cut the funding.

It could also be that the State Dept wanted to keep security low because of whatever the CIA was doing there. It did not want to draw attention to what was going on. During the hearing, Issa improperly disclosed classified info – that there was a CIA “listening post” in the building which was referred to as the CIA Annex. We really do not know the whole story of what our government was doing there and probably never will.

                • Then how do you account for the well-known fact that Hillary Clinton and her State Department turned down the requests for more security in Benghazi? How is that anyone’s fault but her’s?

                  • Bettybb

Clinton testified that she did not receive the request.

There was a request to one department that turned it down. Not surprising since the GOP had cut the funds for embassy security.

                    • If you expect me to take Hillary Clinton at her word, you are sadly mistaken. The woman has lied throughout her political career and I see no reason for me to start believing her now.

  • Regarding Benghazi, I don’t know what the final outcome of this will be, the Dems and Mainstream Media are doing everything possible to render these hearings useless and uncalled for.

Libtards will buy that from the Dems and Media, they really ARE that stupid.

This hearing, and its outcome, will be a look into the soul of America and will give the astute observer a good look at where America is and where it’s going.

That will only matter to people like us my friends, the Libs don’t care, and sadly, many thought to be on the RIGHT are apathetic and the future of freedom IS in the balance…

  • Larry, I have pretty much lost faith in the “truth” coming out if it is critical of a Democratic president. Honestly, look at how F&F went. More fuss was made over the firing of some travel agents when Bush was president.

I really do honestly blame our press for this.

    • I completely agree. The media is more than a little complicit in this cover up. Couple that with the apparent disinterest of the America people in what happened that night and we can see what we are getting. It’s sad, but it’s the truth.
