LD: I see three different issues here. (Leave it to a recovering attorney to read an article and "spot issues."

1) The issue of Obama's being secretive. This is the part that troubles me the most. If a commander-in-Chief has a broad foreign policy position, he needs to share it. I understand that there are classified and other secret details a president shouldn't divulge, but broader issues such as our relationship with Russia and Europe should be out in the open.

2) The issue of cozying up with Russia. I don't need to re-state what Harrison said - it's as if he read my mind.

3) The issue of a bankrupt America continuing to play world cop. I understand that after WWII we took on the role of defending Europe, Japan, and other nations because they were deemed untrustworthy to control a significant military without succumbing to the urge to invade their neighbors. But it's time for these countries to step up and act like big boys and girls and defend themselves. We can't afford to be their bodyguard anymore. So, to the extent that Obama is seeking to reduce our protectorate role of Europe, I'm in agreement with him - except to the extent that he is doing it to specifically empower Russia.

I found this part to be the worst:

“I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.”

Vladimir is the ruler, everyone else is simply a puppet. He is also ex-KGB and knows Obama to be the fool.

Obama honestly believes, I think, that he will achieve peaceful relations with the Russians if he gives up some of our SDI secrets. He already stabbed Poland in the back over SDI and the Russians and more is coming should he win a second term.

Putin is scum plain and simple but he is intelligent and dangerous. Bush was just as stupid for looking into that man's "soul" and deeming him trustworthy.

But the main troubling thing that we should all take away from this exchange is that Obama, like Putin, considers his re-election to be a mere formality.

We all know Putin was re-elected due to fraud and thus what conclusion are we to draw from Obama?

I am afraid you are right. The enthusiasm level during the general election campaign is likely to leave a lot to be desired. Given the way Romney was pushed on us from the beginning, they have no one to blame but themselves.

The cycle of which you speak needs to be broken, in the worst kind of way. Congress needs to be cleaned from top to bottom and I wouldn't mind if we started with John Boehner. If the Republicans retain control of the House, they need to elect a new Speaker. Someone that will fight and stand on principle, even if they aren't necessarily "next in line" for a leadership position.

Don't feel lonely, D21. I have to count myself among the people who can't figure out how so many people can be blind to the things Obama has done in three years. The attitude of so many people has changed and it isn't for the better. Our country needs to get its head on straight, otherwise we are going to lose it.

In my opinion, Larry. the Tea Parties and we conservative bloggers are going to have to do everything possible to get high voter turn-out on our side. I am not confident that the Romney campaign can do it.

Anyone who has watched what he has done in his first term should be terrified about a second term. He'd have absolutely no reason to hold back his socialist agenda. You and John are exactly right, Larry, Congress just doesn't seem interested in thwarting his goals. What scares me is that the people in this country keep sending these same people back to Congress. It seems to me that with every election of a leftist like Obama our country moves in their direction. Then, when a Republican is elected, we don't move back to the right, but maintain position, waiting for the next leftist to be elected and start the leftward journey again. Repeat this cycle enough times and we will be a completely socialist nation. And it will happen slowly enough that most people won't even notice. Or care.
